Think About
Western medicine, big pharma and their cornucopia of wonder drugs are a recent addition to the world of healing within the timeline continuum, introduced during the 19th and 20th centuries. How on earth have we managed to survive for 100,000 years without them?
We are and have always been healing ourselves. Everyone is capable of doing this. We all have this innate ability to heal ourselves and nurture others. It is what has kept us alive over the millennia.
Hold up your finger and look at it. If you dropped a rock on it, slammed a car door on it, pinched it in a drawer or hit it with a hammer, what would you do? If you had a toothache? A stomach ache? Stubbed a toe? The universal response is to immediately hold it in our hands, soothe ourselves with our touch and wish ourselves well. We soothe and nurture a crying child with our touch by holding them, hug a friend in times of emotional or spiritual stress. In every instance we are starting the healing process, delivering Reiki, the universal healing life-force energy to ourselves.
Energy healing has been a tool of the healing community in some manner since the beginning of time. Reiki is a form of energy healing since it is in effect recognized as the “universal life-force energy”. Mikao Usui of Japan is generally credited with “discovering Reiki” as we refer to it today, while in deep meditation. This is because he established the first formal school and classes in the 1920s, which included the protocols, procedures and attunement classifications followed today in one form or another. It was brought to the United States just prior to WW II by Hawayo Takata and has spread throughout the rest of the world since then.
Reiki energy is generally delivered by the hands onto a fully clothed person, but since intention is the key, it can be visualized and sent via a remote or distance session by incorporating the various Reiki symbols, by the eyes and the breath. The benefits range from a general sense of overall wellness and a feeling of calmness, better sleep patterns, to claims of near-miraculous recoveries from autoimmune diseases, cancer and emotional trauma. Reiki is said to heal us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
When we become attuned to Reiki, we are able to tap into the limitless supply of this universal life-force energy. We receive residual Reiki energy and often feel a bit energized after giving a Reiki treatment to someone. When we are not attuned to Reiki, we tap into our own personal supply and can feel tired or spent after healing ourselves or others. In both cases we are still delivering healing energy.
Throughout history individuals have specialized in the jobs, chores, crafts and duties to support a village, town and community. Hunters, warriors, weavers, farmers, woodworkers, potters, stoneworkers…and healers. The healers learned everything about their craft, from the use of herbs, potions, salves, to crystals, chanting, prayer, music, sound and now, Reiki energy.
Reiki energy is tied directly into the energy of Gaia. It is a part of Gaia, of All That Is. This makes Reiki energy perhaps the best and most powerful of all the healing tools we can incorporate into a Gaianic healing session. Heal the world, heal yourself.
